Clinical Counselling and Psychotherapy with Elyssa Carroll Goldman, MCP, RCC
If you’re feeling lost, depressed, overwhelmed or anxious, you came to the rig
ht place.
I offer a welcoming space where you can be yourself and share your thoughts, feelings and experiences without fear of judgement. Depending on your needs and wishes, we may address biological, psychological, social and existential/spiritual aspects of your wellbeing.
I specialize in supporting individual adults with anxiety, depression, ADHD, life transitions, issues related to identity and self-worth, and other difficulties of being a person.
My approach:
In our work together, you can expect to be treated with kindness, care and respect. I focus on genuinely listening to you, asking open-ended questions to encourage exploration, and offering practical strategies and supportive resources. At your own pace, we can delve into your values, strengths, and patterns of thinking, feeling and acting. We can then experiment with potential changes to discover what works best for you.
I am committed to providing ethical, effective counselling. My approach is grounded in evidence-based practices, meaning I rely on methods and concepts supported by peer-reviewed research. It is also trauma-informed, meaning I prioritize creating a safe environment where you feel respected and in control. I draw from a range of therapeutic modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy and Adlerian Psychology, as well as mindfulness-based and somatic approaches. This integrative approach allows me to offer choices and tailor my support to your unique needs. In March 2025, I will also be adding EMDR to my practice.
I recognize that social, cultural, political and economic factors significantly shape our individual and collective challenges. In my practice, I strive for self-awareness, empathy and cultural sensitivity so as to better understand and address the complexities of each person’s experience.
Qualifications:
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #19322) in good standing of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.
I hold a Master of Counselling Psychology from Adler University and a Bachelor of Arts from Mount Allison University (completed in part as a visiting student at UBC).
I consult regularly with an experienced clinical supervisor, and engage in ongoing professional development. I have completed additional trainings in mindfulness-based and somatic therapies, therapy for adults with ADHD, Critical Incident Response and Psychological First Aid.
